Biographical Sketch of Jim Sell
Jim Sell, MHS, PT, ATC received a Bachelor of Arts from Gustavus Adolphus College in athletic training and general sciences in 1986. He received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota in 1988 and received a Master of Health Science degree from the University of Indianapolis in 1993. Jim has been providing athletic training and physical therapy services for nearly 20 years. He has gained extensive experience working in several different facilities, prior to co-founding Accelerated Sports Therapy & Fitness, Inc. in 2006.
Jim was the Clinic Supervisor of Physical Therapy with the Institute for Athletic Medicine for 10 years, at the clinics in Maple Grove, Robbinsdale and Brooklyn Park. His duties included supervising physical therapists, athletic trainers, and support personnel. He also provided physical therapy patient care to a wide variety of orthopedic and sports medicine patients and was a member of the Golf Injury Program, which specialized in the evaluation and treatment of golf related and golf limiting injuries.
Previously, Jim was Physical Therapy Supervisor at the world renowned Methodist Sports Medicine Center (MSMC) in Indianapolis, IN for six years. He specialized in the treatment of knee and shoulder injuries and participated in writing and collecting data for published research articles on the knee and shoulder. Jim served as a physical therapy educator in the Sports Medicine Physician Fellowship at MSMC. He served as a rehabilitation consultant to the Indianapolis Colts Professional Football team and Indianapolis area high schools. He has published an article on Rehabilitation of the Rotator Cuff and has lectured on the knee, shoulder, and spine. In 1994, Jim was recognized as a Sports Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. His earliest physical therapy experience was at Wenger Physical Therapy Services where he provided orthopedic and sports medicine patient care and served as an athletic trainer for several area high schools.
