Dry Needling

What is dry needling and how can it help me? ⠀

In it’s simplest form, Functional Dry Needling is a technique that uses very small, filiform needles inserted into a trigger point, muscle, or tendon to help with pain and movement impairments.⠀

Preliminary research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, and normalizes dysfunctions of the motor end plates, the sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to muscles. This can help speed up a patient’s return to active rehabilitation, especially when used in conjunction with a good home exercise program/rehabilitation plan. (Source: APTA)⠀

Lindsey, one of the therapists at Accelerated Sports Therapy and Fitness, has been trained by KinetaCore in Levels 1 and 2 of Functional Dry Needling, and uses it extensively in her clinical practice. She states that oftentimes she can achieve results faster and more effectively using dry needling than she would have previously gotten with using her hands in more traditional manual therapy techniques. ⠀
